We’re building a movement.
TAC tracks state and federal legislation that can improve treatment outcomes for people affected by severe mental illness (SMI), but it’s the boots on the ground that push that legislation over the finish line.
Join TAC’s Facebook group “SMI Advocates of TAC” to connect with fellow advocates on grassroots advocacy efforts for SMI nationally.
Become an Advocate
Visit TAC’s resource page for information on personal versus systems change advocacy and how to get started.
Visit TAC’s Action Center to sign up for Voter Voice alerts about legislative actions in your state.
You can also contact your state representatives by email, mail, phone, or fax. A site called Open States can help you find your federal and state elected officials.
Email advocacy@tac.org to be on an interest list for an upcoming Advocacy Bootcamp virtual training series that introduces SMI core topics and teaches you to craft your story to impact change.
Local Grassroots Action
Connect with state and local grassroots organizations working on SMI systems change advocacy.
National Shattering Silence Coalition (NSSC) is a national alliance of family members and individuals impacted by SMI, as well as professionals and allies. NSSC has 25 state policy directors that advocates can connect with for local efforts.
