AOTLN Webinar
Join us Thursday, January 18 at 3 p.m. ET for a webinar on Stages of Change in AOT, presented by Melissa A. Maxey, MSSA, LISW-S of the Center for Evidence-Based Practices (CEBP) at Case Western Reserve University.Maxey served as the Team Leader for an AOT/ACT team in Cleveland Ohio for 4 years. She has been in the mental health and addiction field for 25 years, and currently works as a trainer and consultant for the Center for Evidenced Based Practice at Case Western Reserve University. In that role, she provides consultation and training to ACT teams locally and nationally to ensure ACT team clients receive quality services from their providers.
Prochaska and DiClemente’s Transtheoretical Model of Change (1983) has been guiding how the behavioral health field approaches behavior change for over 40 years. While it has been widely adopted in substance use disorder treatment, it is slowly gaining momentum in the mental health field particularly in the area of AOT, the goal of which is to help a participant change their behavior to adhering to treatment. Using stages of change to guide treatment interventions increases participant engagement and can reduce provider frustration. In this webinar, you will learn how to accurately identify the stage that the participant is in and match appropriate interventions to each stage.
