Kelly Gunning\, Executive Director of NAMI Lexington\, Kentucky\, led the charge for getting the AOT law passed in Kentucky and is now working on the team implementing AOT in her home county. Itzel Moya\, MSW\, is the AOT Project Director for NAMI Kansas where she provides support to a growing number of AOT programs across the state through outreach and education for family members\, peers\, and program staff. \nYour NAMI state organization or NAMI affiliate can often be an important partner in care: serving as a referral source\, providing education to family members\, advocating for AOT\, and more. Maxey\, MSSA\, LISW-S of the Center for Evidence-Based Practices (CEBP) at Case Western Reserve University.Maxey served as the Team Leader for an AOT/ACT team in Cleveland Ohio for 4 years.  She has been in the mental health and addiction field for 25 years\, and currently works as a trainer and consultant for the Center for Evidenced Based Practice at Case Western Reserve University.  In that role\, she provides consultation and training to ACT teams locally and nationally to ensure ACT team clients receive quality services from their providers. \nProchaska and DiClemente’s Transtheoretical Model of Change (1983) has been guiding how the behavioral health field approaches behavior change for over 40 years. While it has been widely adopted in substance use disorder treatment\, it is slowly gaining momentum in the mental health field particularly in the area of AOT\, the goal of which is to help a participant change their behavior to adhering to treatment. Using stages of change to guide treatment interventions increases participant engagement and can reduce provider frustration.
