SUMMARY:Webinar: Sleep and recovery in SMI
DESCRIPTION:Please join our September webinar at 3 pm ET on Thursday\, Sept. 17. Dr. Allison Harvey of the University of California\, Berkeley\, will present “Sleep and Recovery in Serious Mental Illness: A Transdiagnostic Approach for Community Providers.” \nDisturbances in the body’s natural 24-hour internal clock that regulates sleep\, wakefulness\, and other physiological processes (circadian rhythm) are among the most common and impactful challenges experienced by individuals with SMI\, yet they often go unrecognized and untreated. Dr. Harvey will describe interrelationships between sleep problems\, psychiatric symptoms\, recovery\, and overall quality of life and offer ways that providers can address these issues to better support AOT participants. Attendees will learn practical approaches to sleep and circadian difficulties across diagnostic categories\, with implementation tools well suited to community-based settings. \nAllison G. Harvey\, Ph.D.\, DBSM\, CBSM\, is professor of psychology at the University of California\, Berkeley\, where she serves as director of the Golden Bear Sleep and Mood Research Clinic. A licensed clinical psychologist\, her research focuses on developing and evaluating treatments for sleep and circadian disturbances associated with SMI\, using both experimental and clinical intervention methods. Dr. Harvey’s work draws on implementation science to expand access to evidence-based sleep treatments and support their adoption in community mental health settings. Register here. \n
